Sustainable Tourism: From theory to concrete implementations
I studied landscape ecology and came to tourism, regional development and sustainability via ecology. Today I am a professor for sustainable tourism at the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden (Switzerland) and owner of Response & Ability (www.responseandability.com). I consider communication, exchange of experiences, networking and transformation as the most important aspects to really implement sustainability. To support this, I am both involved in concrete tourism development projects in Europe, Central and Southeast Asia and in environmental policy work. Moreover, I am a member of numerous advisory councils and boards within the tourism industry such as the expert group Tourism for Tomorrow of the EU Commission. Besides implementation work, I am passionate about labeling and monitoring in several European certification schemes and am thus co-founder of TourCert Austria as well as auditor and certification council.
